into photography

It's been some time since I have posted here....That's because I got totally obsessed with photography! I closed up the wedding hair/makeup modeling and started some fashion and beauty shots! I'm learning about lighting and studio work. Also learning about composition and location ideas. It sure has been fun! I think the models have a blast too! Well, off to obsess about the next shoot! Working out the details is fun.

Looks like my wedding hair and make up models will all be complete by the end of August. It has proven to be fun, creative and exciting. I have met some wonderful gals and made some new friends. :O) I appreciate all the hard work everyone has put in especially for the assistance I have received from my new "lighting assistant". Props to her.
This time has taught me a lot about myself, about people in general and about my camera. Playing with lighting isn't easy but its been interesting. The way I have thrown light on some models....jeepers creepers! We've had fun though. Now I'm on my way to playing with the settings on my camera to adjust exposure, aperature and how to use the flash wireless. I also made some diffusers and bounce cards. It sure has been a bit stressful but always fun. I try my best.

frech birdecage veils

well, I am getting into this photo shoot stuff. I have been looking at Bridal magazine to look at wedding hair and make up. Beautiful Stuff. Of course most wedding accessories are pricey and the birdcage veil is no exception. I even went to the local consigment store that sells wedding gowns to see their accessories. Believe me, absolutely gorgeous but also out of my budget since these items are just for photo shoots. I got to thinking and decided I could make the bird cage veil.
I poked around on line and found some great info. I also know from my own past experience that a mock veil was in order. there was plenty of bridal veil material left over so I used that for my practice run. It didnt' take long and voile, I had a b.c. veil. Some have flowers, stones and feathers. I had a feather/stone clip from the consignment store that looks just beautiful attached to it. I will probably use this b.c. veil this week. Check back to see.

Thankfully I have some great models come for Wedding Hair and Make up. Although I have done many, many, many brides throughout my 16 years unfortunately I haven't really didn't pay much attention to getting pix for my portfolio. Thankfully I have a few though. I can't easily forget those brides though. Many are still my friends and still clients.
Keep an eye on my portfolio as it grows. There are so many great and gorgeous models willing to let me do their hair and make up for A Wedding Day. Even though it isn't neceassarily their wedding day, they still look like a princess for the day!
And for the actual authentic Brides, Thank You for allowing me to be a part of your day and special memories. I love what I do. It brings me a tremendous amount of pleasure and pride. Not only do I care about your hair and make up, I really do care about you too. :o)

Wedding Hair and Make up In Cary, NC

I think I forget to blog! :o) Will try to remember.
I am prepping things for the Big Wedding Hair and Make Up Services that will launch in the Fall. I have colloborated with a good friend and wonderful stylist name Johnsie Gunter who owns Peace Within By Johnsie in Cary, NC. We thought of a catchy name for our Team. Introducing Dream Day Diva's! Johnsie is hard at work on the cards and Facebook page.
Her work is amazing and her personality and character are top notch. Part of the prepping for this introduction is putting up Wedding Hair and Make Up photos to the site. Models are selected, Wedding Hair and Make Up styles are arranged and then Photos are taken to display many styles of Wedding Hair and Make up. I figured there were all types of women who will get Wedding Hair and Make up, so having many styles was important.

crazy and obsessed

Well, I think I am getting a little obsessed with the picture taking. But if you know me, you know that I get into something and I get into it!
this week I got a chance to set up my studio lighting and I am loving the affect. I really do love to shoot outside but I thought it was about time to give those lights a try and that was becuase I did try using the flash on my camera and saw "shadows" of which did not make me so happy. After visiting the local wolf camera, where I get loads of help, I walked out without a flash. I still may go back for it after all. However, I did set up those lights and I am happy with the result so far. I can't wait to try again. Wednesday can not come soon enough. til then!

picture taking

Wow!! Yesterday was sooo coool!! I asked a client to model for me. She is adorable and gorgeous with long hair... So, she brought a few outfits! (yeah) and we made her up for 2 different looks. It was so much fun. At one point I thought, Ok, I have a really cool car, lets take pix there. So off we went. After a few shots she agreed to jump up on my car! I realized that if I were up a bit higher I could get some cool angles. Some how, in a skirt, I got on the back of my car and shot the pix. Fabulous. As far as a fashion shot, its my fav so far.

wicked

wow!! Wicked was amazing. If you have a chance to see it, Go!! It was the best musical ever. I have seen quite a few to have this opinion. At a few times my emotions were so charged and I got tears in my eyes. I would love to see it again. If there is a single ticket for sale on C.L> I may see it one more time.

Got my manniquens out today and designed 2 new updo's. I can't wait to be able to do them and take the pix. Look for them on the site soon.

saturday

Yesterday was an odd day. Must have been the full moon. I didn't feel right; cranky. But good hair was had by all. Enjoyed a burger at stonewood grill with Carmie. We really did get a piece of cake with icecream and ate the whole durn thing. lol. Was soo good though to hang out.

Today is a short day at the salon and then off to Durham to see Wicked. Woot Woot!!

Sharing information about Keune on monday with a salon in Dunn. Looking forward to it!
